Telephone Dialing

Posted by Colin Wynn on Apr 25, 2006 in Move Administer

Telephone DialingTelephone dialing is now supported within Move Administer.

You can now set Move Administer to dial the telephone number of any client record currently open, and in turn the number will be dialled via your modem.

It is also our aim to expand this in the coming months to make use of SkypeOut (www.skype.com), ideal for international calling as the rates are 1p a minute to most countries.

Crate Administer – Development Begins

Posted by Colin Wynn on Apr 3, 2006 in Crate Administer, Under Development

Development has started on Crate Administer .

Crate Administer will be an additional module to Move Administer and aims to control the hire of multiple crate products to clients, as well as dealing with the sale of various consumable products like labels.

Invoicing will be done monthly in arrears (along the lines of storage invoicing) to eliminate the need for the production of credit notes, as hire quantities vary on a monthly basis with collections and deliveries. Crate Administer will also manage the charging of lost crates too.

Scheduling of deliveries and collections will be managed from the Events Diary within Move Administer, with a new tab showing crate activity, ie deliveries and collections.

More information will be released over the coming months, so if Crate Administer is of interest to you then keep an eye on our Development Blog.

Declared Liability Change

Posted by Colin Wynn on Mar 31, 2006 in Move Administer

For those who opted to go down the declared liability route we have made a change to Move Administer that allows you to show on invoices the amount charged for liability, but for storage only.

Discussed in length with one of the insurance brokers on the BAR panel, it was decided that the FSA (Financial Services Authority) have relaxed over charging for liability. Therefore, we have taken the stance of ‘if you want to show the liability as a separate charge then so be it, but don’t blame us if the FSA kick up a fuss!‘.

So now in the defaults of the Move Administer you can now select to show storage liability separately, which is making invoices easier to read as the majority of our clients are charging storage liability on a rate per £1,000 of declared valuation.

Hope this makes life easier for you all.

A New Look and Feel to Address Mapping

Posted by Colin Wynn on Mar 27, 2006 in Move Administer

Within Move Administer we have a feature for address/journey mapping. To do this we link to MSN maps. MSN are currently redirecting to their new mapping site, Windows Live Local. They have updated to a new look and feel and made getting driving directions and searching for addresses or local information even easier and quicker.

We have found the new website to be a lot clearer and more user friendly to use. Windows Live Local also caters for European and International journey routing.

Windows Live Local is still in Beta testing and is expected to be officially released in the near future.

Handling Direct Debits

Posted by Colin Wynn on Mar 23, 2006 in Move Administer

Move Administer has long been able to produce Direct Debit mandates, but now it exports the direct debit information required for payments to be collected!

By creating a simple Query using our Query Wizard, information can be exported to a .csv file which is compatible with BACWAY Professional IP from Microgen (for more information visit www.microgen.co.uk.)

This is a valuable addition to a hugely expanding system” Said one user, and I have to agree!

Events Diary

Posted by Colin Wynn on Feb 6, 2006 in Move Administer

Event DiaryThe events diary has undergone a recent transformation. No longer does it only show the events happening for the chosen date but also worksheets and container activity too!

The events diary now consists of 3 tabs (with a 4th ‘scheduled’ for the Self Storage Module), Events, Worksheets and Containers.

The Events tab shows the regular events browse, with the availability free text notepad permanently visible on all 3 tabs.

The Worksheets tab shows worksheets for the chosen date. Here you can Insert, Open and Delete worksheets, you can even Copy a worksheet, ideal for those multi day jobs.

The Containers tab shows container activity for the chosen date, such as inspections, containers due for release and at the tick of a checkbox you can even see which containers were occupied. Container inspections can be booked from the Actions menu of a Storage Job.

The 4th tab will show Self Storage activity in much the same way as container activity, but only for those lucky enough to have purchased the Self Storage Module.

Beta Test Phase Ending

Posted by Colin Wynn on Jan 26, 2006 in Move Administer

I’m pleased to announce that the beta test phase of Move Administer is coming to an end.

No less than 6 companies of various sizes in various locations of the UK have been testing Move Administer , most since last August!

Feedback has been positive, very positive indeed, and the number of bugs (yes every software has bugs of some description or another) reported has been minimal, which has left the majority of time further expanding the system to the requests from testers and potential clients to whom Move Administer has been demonstrated to.

The speed of enhancements has impressed all beta testers, with updates being released practically on a weekly basis!

So, with testing coming to an end I’m pleased to announce that 3 companies are running ‘live’ on Move Administer, with a further 6 companies finding their feet with and aiming to go live on March 1st.

Those currently live on Move Administer are:
*Clockwork Transportation and First Removal Services, 2 trading names, 4 users
Britannia Sandersteads of Surrey, single trading name, 9 users, shipping and commercial module

Those installed and finding their feet are:
*Mac-Pac, single trading name, 3 users, shipping module
*Edwards, Budget Removals & Storage and RD Smart & Sons, 3 trading names, 6 users, shipping module
*Clockwork Removals, single trading name, 2 users
*Butchers Removals, single trading name, 2 users

February brings us a further 3 installations, one of which being a 5 trading name, 26 user system (yes you did read correctly, 26 users!), which was a major coup for us.

So if you’ve not seen Move Administer in action, then please do contact me to arrange an onsite demonstration at a time convenient to both parties involved. I look forward to hearing from you.

*all companies are part of Clockwork Group Holdings who ordered 5 licences 48 hours after being demonstrated Move Administer last September!

AFD Postcode

Posted by Colin Wynn on Jan 16, 2006 in Move Administer

We recently purchased AFD Postcode to test with Move Administer to see if we can help clients speed up data entry.

After extensive testing, we found there to be no problems with AFD Postcode inserting addresses back into Move Administer.

AFD Postcode will help your company run more professionally and smoothly by giving the user fast and easy access to accurate address entry, needing just a postcode.

For more information about AFD Postcode, visit www.afd.co.uk. You can purchase AFD Postcode from there website for as little as £154 and £85 yearly renewal.

Warehouse Locations

Posted by Colin Wynn on Jan 16, 2006 in Move Administer

A recent addition to Move Administer is the facility to store the location of the container within the warehouse.

Move Administer caters for multiple warehouses by default, allowing bays to be setup for each warehouse. Well now we’ve gone that one step further, allowing each warehouse bay to be setup with stack Height and Depth details.

A container can then be placed into a specific location within the allocated warehouse bay. This is ideal when trying to find 3 empty containers, allowing you to keep a customer’s effects in one warehouse bay rather than spread around the enture warehouse(s).

In the future we are looking to produce a graphical display of a chosen warehouse bay, showing which containers are in each location, making it easier to estimate the time taken to retrieve a container. We are also looking a producing an administration tool for the warehouse manager, allowing him/her to find container locations with ease, without the need of having to work their way through a vast system that Move Administer is, so watch this space for further details.
